Five tips for choosing your pool remodeling company

Spring cleaning has begun, which means it’s officially home remodeling season. If your pool needs an upgrade, now is the time to start planning and find a pool remodeling company.

Whether you’re looking to install energy efficient equipment or give your pool a total makeover, here are five things to consider before choosing a pool remodeling company:

1. Customer service quality

Ask yourself if you trust the people you’re doing business with. Communication with your pool remodeling company should be prompt and diligent. Don’t hesitate to ask questions, and make sure you understand the pool renovation process.

2. Portfolio work

How many years has the company been in business? Ask the company to review its photos or examples of previous, completed projects. This is the best way to know a company’s capabilities, style and to know what you want your pool remodel to look like.  

3. Credentials and licenses

Is the company accredited by the Master Pools Guild or a member of the Association of Pool and Spa Professionals? Do your due diligence and check the company’s record with the Registrar of Contractors or the BBB. Many contractors will get new licenses to clean their record of previous poor work. So, always remember to compare how many years the contractor has been in business with the age of their license.

4. What they specialize in

Make sure that your pool remodeling goal matches the company’s strengths. If you prioritize sustainability, check that they’re using eco-friendly technologies. Additionally, look for a company that specializes in remodeling and not just new pool construction. Pool remodelers will know the ins and outs of working with and around mature, existing landscaping.

5. How many cooks are in the kitchen?

Pool remodeling companies will often hire various subcontractors to complete a project. However, the more people or companies your pool remodeling company is managing the more potential there is for error and a lengthen renovation time.

Remodeling your pool is an investment in your time and money, so it’s important that you love the end result the first time around.

    I appreciate this information about the tips of hiring a pool remodeling company. Realizing that one should compare how many years the contractor has been in business with the age of their license is important. I have also been advised to set a budget before hiring a service. It would be best to find someone who can complete desired work for a price that suffices you.

    My brother has always wanted a pool in his backyard. He recently moved into a home with a large enough area, so he’s looking at different custom pool contractors. At the time of hiring the builder, you have to focus on their few characteristics, which include their quality of service, experience and moreover the cost. If it has experts of the industry, then it must have earned more fame. During the pool remodel, the company should focus on more safety measures. Then, the looks and style of the pool would come.

    I’ve always wanted to have a pool at our home, and I think that now would be a perfect time to make that dream a reality. I realize that the best way to have a good pool experience is to work with a good professional contractor, and one who has strengths in the right area.     I like your analogy about how many cooks are in the kitchen. My brother just had his pool redone and the team that came were all a part of the same crew. They did a wonderful job! I agree that being aware of how many contractors you have can greatly reduce the chance of error.

    I have been thinking about getting my pool updated and I thought that it would be a good idea to look at how to choose a builder. You mentioned that it is important to check the companies portfolio work and make sure that you see photos of their examples since it is important to know their style.     I agree with you in that it is a good idea to check with the BBB when looking for a good contractor to help you chose and install the best pool for your needs. It is important to remember that taking the time to do some research and look at online reviews can help you find the best pool to help your family have fun. Personally, I would want to take the time to assess my needs and compare several pools before choosing the one I want.

    I do agree that when it comes to choosing a pool contractor it would essential to get a service that has a great customer service as communication with your contractor would be necessary as you’ll have to understand the pool renovation process. That is quite a timely advice to have as my wife and I are thinking about having our backyard upgraded to a pool this month so that it would be ready for the summer season. Additionally, being able to have a pool would ensure my kids would spend more time at home. Thanks for the advice on how to choose the perfect pool contractors!
